Re Is Bebek Tepi Sawah a halal restaurant? 10 years ago Sorry, I just called over there and they said they are NOT halal... But there are several good Nasi Padang restaurants in Ubud that are of course... One on Jalan Hanoman, and two on Jalan Raya Ubud the main road . Re Is Bebek Tepi Sawah a halal restaurant? 10 years ago You are welcome...a very easy thing for me to do and I'm happy to help.. i am sure you would do the same! If you have to have the crispy duck then Bebek Bengil is an ok place, but it's highly over rated. I'm sorry that Tepi Sawah could not suit as it's much better than Bebek Bingil Dirty Duck. Have a wonderful trip! Level Contributor 30 posts 22 reviews 12 helpful votes 4. Re Is Bebek Tepi Sawah a halal restaurant? 10 years ago hi ubudpuppy, Just came back from Bali and found out that Bebek Bengil is non-halal too as they also served pork/lard food as per said by my tour guide.. Re Is Bebek Tepi Sawah a halal restaurant? 10 years ago Hi Arissyam Oh, I'm so sorry...strange that they would have a mussholla and yet also serve pork. Frankly, I don't think you have missed too much.. Crispy duck many years ago was meaty and delicious. And it became a famous food because it used to be good. Now it's mostly just famous for being famous. There is such demand for duck now, the farmers are harvesting them when they are very small and have very little meat. To me, you can make almost the same thing yourself by marinating a duck in some spices and then putting it in a deep fryer until the duck turns very very dark brown.. Other than that problem, how did you enjoy your trip to Bali? Hope it was good... 6. We have dined at Bebek Bengil several times and the first one more than 10 years ago was quite extraordinary but not the last few times. We are glad to have discovered Bebek Tepi Sawah. You can't go wrong with either grilled or smoked ducks. Other dishes are worthwhile, too. And we never felt rushed. So tranquil to enjoy a delicious meal in such a serene setting. Downside a bit of a trek from central Ubud, but not too far. it's worth of visit February 2016ValueServiceFoodAsk NigellaCB about Bebek Tepi Sawah1 Thank NigellaCB This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Read our transparency report to learn TReviewed March 15, 2016 via mobile Following the positive advice of many previous visitors and the promise of the best crispy duck around we were very excited to visit this restaurant. Unfortunately, we were seemingly mislead. The crispy duck we were served was unseasoned and contained very little actual meat. Obviously, we were not expecting a lot as this is a duck not a steroid filled chicken BUT - It was more like a fried duck satay chicken and 'beef' was of a dismal quantity for a main meal. Unsure of the origin of the beef as it tasted very different to any beef product I have ever tasted previously. Also, being seated on floor cushions for our meal, we had to deal with the resident Tom Cat whining for scraps who looked very sickly. Very unpleasant experience. Read our transparency report to learn IndonesiaReviewed March 12, 2016 via mobile We came at an odd hour to avoid the lunch traffic to try the famous crispy duck. We were not hungry so we ordered a dish to share for two plus we each ordered fresh pure juice and kangkong. The waiter looked annoyed and asked why we did not order one dish each of duck. We explained that it is an odd hour and we have had our lunch. The food came and we loved the duck. It was crispy and juicy. We also loved the orange pure juice so we ordered another 2 glasses of those. When the additional 2 came the taste was different. We all tasted it and acknowledged that the taste is a little like vitamin C effervescent. We asked the waitress why it tastes different and that maybe this time it wasn't the pure juice. The waitress shouted a little and insisted it is pure.
